Miranda (Herrera) Sylvester was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. She attended the University of Notre Dame for her undergraduate and graduate studies. She resided in Cavanaugh Hall and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering and a minor in Theology in 2016. Then she went on to earn her Master’s degree in Education through the Alliance for Catholic Education Teaching Fellows program as a part of ACE 23. She taught middle school Math and Science in St. Petersburg, Florida and graduated in 2018. Miranda decided to stay at her ACE school and teach an additional two years, finishing her final school year in 2020. She then pursued an opportunity in curriculum writing for Kesler Science where she created engaging science resources that are being used by elementary and middle school teachers across the country. She is currently seeking more opportunities to help teachers in the classroom and help students get excited about science. Miranda married last year in the Basilica at Notre Dame and currently lives in Chicago with her husband (another ACE grad). She enjoys doing puzzles, reading, organizing, going for walks, traveling, and scrapbooking her adventures.
